New Program Added
The Elizabeth Fry Society has been graciously funded by the Nova Scotia Gaming Foundation for the provision of a prevention and support program for women. The objective of the program is:
- To increase feelings of support and inclusion for women who are experiencing adverse affects of gambling by attending one-on-one weekly support meetings and weekly group sessions in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment. This objective will be measured by a pre, interim and post evaluation of the project. We will also have ongoing check-ins
- To provide life skills programming including relevant up to date materials related to gambling and to educate women on available community resources and encourage increased use of these resources. Measured by pre, interim and post evaluations
- Encouraging women involved in the project to strengthen support networks and support them to maintain these connections.
- Deliver personal development workshops to the support group. These sessions include Healthy Relationships, Personal Boundaries, Conflict Management and Relapse Prevention Support
This program is made possible because of funding by the Nova Scotia Gaming Foundation. The Nova Scotia Gaming Foundation is an arms-length, government, not-for-profit organization that provides funding and support for community and research projects aimed at problem gambling. The Foundation is committed to ensuring there is balanced dialogue on the issue of problem gambling in this Province.
